For the new year I decided not to make any real goals. This year I am trying to do the "Photo a Day" thing. I have noticed that I am favoring my new iPhone for the images. The quality is lovely and I always have my phone with me. Aside from taking a picture everyday, I recently ordered all of Jane Austin's novels and intend to read all of them (some of them are re-reads but it should be something nice to read before bed).

1. I hung out with my sister in the afternoon as she and her boss made brunch.


2. Lunch with Brent.


3. Running errands with my sister, stopping at Concetta.


4. Taking the dogs to get the nails ground down with my mom.


5. I got a doughnut from my favorite place in the morning before flying back to Portland.




6. My cat seemed so happy when I got home. I showered her with toys.


7. Made myself cabbage salad for dinner one night.


8. I forgot to take a photo durring the day so I played with the flash before going to sleep


9. Voodoo doughnuts had not line and I was near by with Weens so we had to stop.


10. I watched all of Trailer Park Boys, it was a non-stop sort of thing so I was just playing with the camera while watching.


11. I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and microwaved my oatmeal for way too long.


12. I got the cutest new phone case from Bethany in the mail. I have not switched to it for day to day use because I am afraid of messing it up.


13. One of my teachers last semester published this book. It seemed too ridiculous not to buy.


14. I cut my own bangs, usually I do an alright job. This time I cut them too short.


15. Portland is the first place I have lived that it actually snows. I woke up and got dressed as fast as I could. It had stopped by the time I got outside but I still went for a short walk.


16. I realized how cold it is when it snows, made a pot of soup and stayed in my apartment for the last few days of break. I gazed out my window and drank lots of tea. I also watched a ton of movies and was overall just a lazy bum.


17. Today is the first day of the Spring Semester. I went to the post office to mail Bethany part of her Christmas present that I forgot to bring to California with me. while there I bought some handsom stamps.

A is for Ax

Busy week. Drew a self portrait. I am reshooting my digital project. I also started working on my Art in Context project.


So far I am done with one image. My idea is to create flashcards with images made of text that detail murder/death articles from the news.

The chosen one

Today I have focused on homework. Monday seems to be coming so fast. I have been taking photographs, reading, and working on a project proposal.


For the past two weeks I have been brain stroming. My assignment is to use text as art. Sounds easy, right? There are so many different things that I could do I am almost overwhelmed by the possibilities. So far the only thing I am certain about is that I will use a Polaroid as my canvas (but not necessarily present a photograph).


On Monday while walking in downtown I saw this knitted quilt thing hanging on the side of the building that read "You are the chosen one." I automatically thought of Harry Potter as I took a snap shot of it. After a minute I started relate the knitted quilt thing to my assignment. I came to the realization that I could simply use a saying to create something.


While I am still coming up with the details (which I need to present tomorrow) I will have another week to create whatever it is I make with a Polaroid.

I have been in Portland for a month now. So far I have gone to Voodoo Doughnuts to try the Bacon Maple Bar, went on a day trip to Astoria with my parents the first week I was in town, explored the Pearl district, went on a few MAX rides and started school.

All of my classes have been great so far, I am even enjoying my drawing class.

This blog is going to start actually being active (which is a little shocking) I will try to post about my schooling, current projects I am working on, even maybe some outfit posts.

So, why does this post exist? I guess as an inspirational tool to get me active with my updates.
